Trust

Infidelity can present its self in many ways. Not only sexual relations but emotional infidelity, mental infidelity, even social infidelity.  In the article Fidelity in Marriage: It's More Then You Think, Matheson says,

"Physical infidelity is only one of the many temptations Satan uses to break up families and marriages. Emotional infidelity, which occurs when emotions and thoughts are focused on someone other than a spouse, is an insidious threat that can weaken the trust between a couple and shatter peace of mind.
Emotional infidelity doesn’t usually happen suddenly; rather, it occurs gradually—often imperceptibly at first. This is one reason why those involved often feel innocent of any wrongdoing."

Spouses of those who use pornography often report feeling, feelings of infidelity from their loved ones.  It is a slippery slope.  The pain of your spouse being unfaithful can have sacres for years. Feeling or fear of them returning to past sins. Anxiety of being left or abandoned.  Even body image issues can subside after infidelity accuser in a marriage.  However, the most damaging and difficult to repair in a marriage after infidelity has occurred would have to be; trust.

Trust is an interesting. It provides security and unity to a marriage. Without it a union is feeble. With out trust relationships are unstable and can quickly dissolve. The actual definition of trust is, believe in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of.  Do we look at our marriage as a place of reliability? Are we creating a marriage full of truth? When considering our marriages do we reflect on its profound abilities to sustain our spouse and ourselves.  Does our relationship with our spouse posses strength or do must of us just get by?  Do we need to make adjustments in our marriage to foster more trust?

In Matheson concluding remarks in his article, he stresses that their is a way for healing to occur. He says, "In situations such as these, spouses should remember that change is not easy and that neither spouse can change the other person. Instead, spouses can commit to making changes in their individual behavior. They can also commit to seeking the Lord’s help through the power of the Atonement in order to become their best selves, for their own sakes and for the sake of their spouses." It is import that the couple who has suffered such trama are patient with each other and themselves as the healing process takes effect. It will take time and hard work that has to be maintained to overcome the challenge but according to Matheson it is possible if desired and sought after.
