My Hobby and a Little Cash

As most of you know I love to make card and to scrapbook. About a year ago when I was in the relief society presidency, I started making card to give to the sister for their birthdays. When I was released I had some left over. A friend at work saw some of my cards and told me how she just loved them and thought they would sell well. Not believing her nor having the confidence that they were great I did nothing further.
For Christmas Ale (same friend for work) asked me to make a card for her husband and she wanted to buy it from me. So I did and my first card was bought for $30 pesos. This was the beginning of me selling many cards. This past month I have sold over 6 cards. To be honest it is not like I am making the big bucks but it is something I enjoy and I am able to make a little money.
Most of my cards are made from recycling. For example the card you see right below is made from a piece of cardboard that is found in our Del Sol boxes. It rest on top of the merchandise right below the tape so that when the box is cute opened non of the product inside will be damaged from the blade. The yellow paper that the butterflies are sitting on is a tag left over from a shirt we sell in Cariloha (another store that Daniel manages.) The brown ribbon that runs vertical is the ribbon that ties the tag to the clothes. Every single one of my card have at least one article that is recycled. I am recycling and making money. It's great. Here are just a few of some of the card I have been making lately. Some of these cards are already sold and gone. Enjoy.

Tradition Tradition

This New Year I made a few new traditions beside the usual make goals for the up coming year. On Christmas Day when Daniel and I were at Jen and Dario's house with friends we got on to the subject of New Year's traditions. Some were things they themselves had done, some were ideas they have heard of from others, or what the locals do around here. I am going to share them with you. That way you can decide if you would like to start using them as well in your lives. A disclaimer many are crazy.
1. At 12 o'clock walk around the block with a piece of luggage. That way you will have many vacations and travel safe during the coming year.
2. Before mid-night open all the windows and doors in your house. As to welcome the new year and get rid of the old.
3. Go to the other side of the island and watch the sun rise on New Year's Day. A way to welcome the new year with hope and peace.
4. smash a glass jar on the ground in front of your house. I can't remember why. Next year
5. Listen to Auld Lang Syne why kissing the one you love. To bring romance.
6. Kiss your spouse right before twelve as the last kiss of 20_ _ . Then kiss after twelve as the first kiss of 20_ _.
7. Make a fake stuffed person. As soon as it is midnight light it on fire. As to burn out the bad of the old year and welcome the new.

I adopted a couple of the traditions because they are great ideas. Others are crazy but hilarious. As you can see this is our new tradition. No really these are pictures of different stuffed people I was telling you about. This is a local tradition. This is my new tradition. I did not go to the other side of the island. But I did watch the sun rise at 6:24 that morning. Bright and earily. I loved it. I did feel peace. Even a closeness to my Father in Heaven. A great way to start out the new year.

Christmas Day

Christmas was nice we woke up late and opened our stockings from each other. Daniel rapped my stocking stuffers in a box. I thought it was a good idea so I copied. I did the Wells tradition and rapped our favorite cereal as gifts. We decided to not do much for Christmas this year because we want to save our money to buy a house in 2010. After gifts we called our families. That evening we went to a friend's house and had a Christmas dinner with them and some other friends who are all non-members. I thought it was nice that Jen the hostess said, "Well because it is Christmas I think we should say a blessing Daniel would you please say it." It just made me think maybe they do feel something different about us. I am grateful for the Savior and the gospel. I am grateful for the knowledge we have of who we are and where we are going. I invite you to share the gospel with your friends. I am grateful for the season of Christmas and even though I am writing this blog in February I hope I have the spirit of Christmas throughout this whole year. Here are some pictures of the great day.
Christmas Morning
My Chirstmas stocking/box. Didn't he do such a great job? A Del Sol box and pink duck tape. I have no idea where he got it. Daniel opening his gifts. I rapped every single one individually just for fun.
My house looked great this Christmas. I feel like I have what I want now. I bought after Christmas the past two years and now this year everything was complete.
